Caleo Chat is a fictional roleplay and entertainment service for adults. You are always interacting with AI characters generated by large language models, never with a real person. Caleo Chat is not a counselor, therapist, doctor, or crisis service, and it is not a substitute for human relationships or professional care.

Our companion chatbot safety protocol

Caleo Chat maintains a protocol to address expressions of suicidal ideation, suicide, or self-harm, consistent with California Senate Bill 243 (the companion chatbot law).

  • Detection. We use automated measures to detect certain expressions of self-harm or suicidal ideation in the messages you send.
  • Crisis referral. When we detect such an expression, we show a notice in the app that refers you to crisis service providers, including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and the Crisis Text Line.
  • Withholding replies. For users in California, when we detect such an expression we do not generate a character reply to that message. We show the crisis referral instead.
  • No human monitoring. These are limited automated measures. We do not monitor your conversations with human reviewers, and Caleo Chat does not provide crisis intervention.

These measures are a safety floor, not a diagnosis, and they can miss or misclassify messages. Always rely on the crisis resources above, not on Caleo Chat, if you need help.

Caleo Chat is intended for adults only. You must be 18 or older to use the Service, and this companion chatbot may not be suitable for some minors. See the Terms of Service for our eligibility and age rules.
